It looks like Sandwell will switch to fortnightly bin collections for household waste, with alternate weeks for recycling.

Typical of Sandwell Labour to try and impose something they should have been encouraging anyway. The limited recycling Sandwell does have was introduced despite resistance from Labour Councillors, so it is no wonder that Sandwell ranks among the worst authorities for recycling in England. Instead of imposing recycling as part of a cost-cutting exercise, the Council should have been promoting recycling to start with.

The limited recycling we do have was introduced after successful trials in Lib Dem held wards; Newton, Great Barr, and Charlemont. One of the reasons the trials were successful was that we had been promoting recycling for several years already.
