Oliver is originally from Hampshire, where he and his brother were raised by his mum (a nurse) and dad (an engineer). Oliver was the first in his immediate family to go to university, obtaining a BA in history at Kent and then an MA at University College London.
After university he embarked upon a career as a primary school teacher which began in Cardiff and took him overseas to teach English. He was then a Head of Department at a small rural school for nearly a decade before he left teaching to focus on serving as an elected councillor in Local Government.
Oliver has held positions at all levels of Local Government, from Parish Council to Unitary Council and everything in between. In recent years he has held junior positions in the Communications, Climate Change, and Transport portfolios at one of England’s biggest Unitary Authorities (Somerset Council). He currently holds a communications role in the Parliamentary Office of one of our Lib Dem MPs, Sarah Dyke.
Oliver is an active campaigner and has a track-record of standing up for people and demanding better for residents. His campaign priorities are fixing the NHS, tackling climate change, and making sure local services are properly-funded.
