Post Office bosses continue to avoid being held to account for the prosecution of innocent victims of their faulty Horizon system, they have even tried to pay themselves bonuses for this work. The victims deserve prompt action by the Government to ensure they all have their names cleared and that the perpetrators at the Post Office and Fujitsu are held to account. Sadly this scandal is being exploited by conspiracy theorists making false claims, despite Ed Davey meeting with Alan Bates in 2010, something none of the Postal Affairs Ministers between 2015 and 2019 appear to have done.
The Police and Government should have been investigating possible criminal fraud by the Post Office and Fujitsu after the December 2019 judgement, and certainly after 2021 when the convictions for the false allegations of theft and false accounting started to be overturned as an “affront to justice”. Meanwhile Post Office bosses tried to pay themselves bonuses for work on the inquiry into the miscarriage of justice, and were forced to apologise, but have not returned ill-gotten gains. They should be facing corporate manslaughter charges not being gifted honours by our corrupt system.
The Post Office management still appears to be arrogantly ignoring the views of its users, and sub-postmasters, as we saw in the case of the relocation and the closer of the Scott Arms Post Office, last year. The Post Office needs to be held to account. They did not provide the facilities they promised in their consultation, and did not support the sub-postmaster who foolishly agreed to their proposal to host a Post Office.
